Concept Smoke Systems was pleased to exhibit at the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) Annual Conference 2026, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sligo on 6-7 May, with our Fire Training Range on show at the accompanying Fire Technology Exhibition. Conference details
The conference brings together fire service leaders, emergency management professionals and equipment suppliers to share experience, examine emerging challenges and explore ways to support operational preparedness. Combining expert presentations, incident case studies and an equipment exhibition, it provides an opportunity to connect the challenges facing fire services with the technology available to help address them.
This year’s programme reflected the breadth of those challenges. Sessions included lessons from the Luton Airport car park fire, major emergencies in Valencia, battery energy storage safety, and approaches to contaminants and decontamination. Contributions from senior fire service leaders and emergency management specialists also explored the evolving role of fire and rescue services and preparedness for increasingly complex emergencies. For Concept, the exhibition was an opportunity to showcase the role of realistic smoke simulation in firefighter training. Reduced visibility adds a practical challenge to exercises, helping crews practise searching, communicating and working together in conditions that demand confidence in their equipment and procedures.
Our Fire Training Range covers applications from portable exercises to large, fixed training facilities. The Spirit 900 provides controllable, water-based smoke for general training, while the compact Colt 4 range offers handheld flexibility, including off-power smoke production after preheating on applicable models.
For more demanding environments, the ViCount and Vulcan systems produce highly persistent oil-based smoke suited to large-volume smoke logging, breathing apparatus exercises, hot fire training and positive pressure ventilation training. Persistence is particularly valuable where heat, turbulence or the size of the training space makes maintaining smoke conditions more challenging.
