BCTA Conference ‑ ATTMA Event 2025

Concept Smoke Systems, a pioneer in safe, artificial smoke technologies, exhibited at the Building Compliance Testers Association (BCTA) Conference in support of ATTMA at the Building Performance Hub. The conference, held on 12 February 2025, drew professionals focused on building performance, energy efficiency, airtightness, and indoor air quality .

Why Smoke Matters in Building Performance

In the fields of air‑leakage testing, ductwork commissioning, and smoke control systems, artificial smoke plays a critical diagnostic role. It highlights invisible airflow pathways or seal failures in building envelopes and ventilation systems

ATTMA’s Role in Building Industry Standards

ATTMA (the Air Tightness Testing & Measurement Association) administers a competent‑persons scheme for air‑tightness testing in the UK. It provides guidance, sets best practices, and keeps a registry of accredited testers. At the BCTA Conference, supporting ATTMA meant reinforcing the need for consistent, accredited testing methods amid changing regulations.

Concept’s Standout Demonstrations

Concept Smoke Systems demonstrated two flagship products at the show:

  • Air Trace MK2: A compact, handheld smoke generator ideal for pinpoint airflow visualisation tasks in locations lacking mains power.

  • Colt 4: Their industry‑standard used for leak detection in ducts, cavities, and building façades.

A representative from Concept commented:

“We were delighted to exhibit the Air Trace MK2 and Colt 4 during the ATTMA‑supported BCTA Conference. Seeing the response from testers and consultants reaffirmed how important these tools are for ensuring building safety and compliance.”
