Description
Practical Fire Extinguisher Training, Indoors
The FET Indoor Trainer gives instructors a practical way to bring fire extinguisher training directly into the learning environment. Participants handle electronic training extinguishers while responding to a simulated fire on a large display, allowing explanation, demonstration and hands-on practice to take place together.
Suitable for workplace fire safety instruction and refresher training, the system helps participants understand both how to operate an extinguisher and how to assess the situation in front of them. Exercises can explore extinguisher handling, approach, technique and the limits of an individual’s ability to tackle a developing fire.
Different Fires, Different Techniques
The FET provides three scenarios: a wastepaper-bin fire, an electrical-equipment fire and a flammable-liquid fire.
Each has three intensity settings, representing an initial fire, a spreading fire and a fully developed fire. Instructors can use these settings to introduce the exercise progressively and discuss how a changing situation affects the appropriate response.
The system also demonstrates the effects of different extinguishing agents, including water, foam, powder and CO2. This helps explain why choosing an extinguisher involves more than simply pointing it at the flames.
Authentic Extinguisher Handling
The electronic extinguishers reproduce the appearance, weight, feel and sound of real equipment. Participants practise holding the extinguisher, removing the safety pin, operating the control and directing the hose.
This physical interaction helps turn classroom instruction into a practical exercise. Trainees become familiar with the actions involved, while instructors can observe their technique and explain where improvements are needed.
Train Together and Learn Together
The FET supports both individual exercises and simultaneous two-person extinguishing. Team exercises create an opportunity to practise communication and coordination while responding to the same incident.
The shared display also keeps the exercise visible to the wider group. Observers can follow what happens, discuss the participants’ decisions and learn from each demonstration before taking their own turn.
Practise the Response as Well as the Extinguishing
Effective training includes the decisions made before an extinguisher is used. The fire-alarm training device allows raising the alarm to form part of the exercise, and the system provides feedback when this action is missed.
Instructors can use the exercise to reinforce situation assessment, appropriate action and recognition of personal limits, alongside the mechanics of operating an extinguisher.
Convenient Training Throughout the Year
Indoor operation makes it easier to organise practical sessions alongside classroom teaching. Training can continue through poor weather, with no need to move the group outside for each extinguisher exercise.
Electronic operation avoids consuming gas or water during extinguishing practice and removes the associated refilling and discharge-cleaning tasks. Exercises can be repeated to give participants further practice and reinforce the instructor’s feedback.
Portable and Straightforward to Set Up
The wheeled base and accessory case make the FET convenient to move between training locations. The monitor separates from the base for transport, and the system can be set up in under five minutes.
The supplied storage equipment keeps the extinguishers and accessories organised between sessions.
