The Concept SDTS is based on the best selling ViCount Hi temperature smoke system.
Unlike conventional water based smokes, the smoke produced by the Concept SDTS is resistant to extremely high temperatures. The unit requires an inert propellant gas, and is supplied complete with a CO2 cylinder and regulator.
It is capable of simply and repeatedly creating nontoxic artificial smoke, from small quantities (representative of smouldering fire) to larger quantities, with thermal buoyancy, which will activate ionisation, optical, beam and aspirating smoke detectors.
The SDTS incorporates a thermal chimney with 4 independently switched, 160w air heaters, into which the smoke is introduced. The air within the chimney rises, carrying with it the temperature resistant smoke, and an effective, repeatable and consistent thermally buoyant smoke effect results.
As with all of Concept's mains powered smoke systems, a class leading warranty is provided.
The precision machined heat exchanger has a self purge system that initiates automatically after every operation, meaning that virtually no residue is left in the heat exchanger to carbon which would eventually lead to a blockage within the chamber.
The ViCount type smoke is approved by the CNPP and used in bespoke systems specifically for smoke detector testing, and an Aviator variant is supplied, capable of running off an aircraft's own power supply.

Although the effect produced was good, the reliability, servicing and running costs of the system were always a headache, with smoke machines sometimes lasting a few weeks before they failed.
In June 2000, on recommendation, we contacted Concept Smoke Systems regarding the smoke installation. A ViCount system was installed and commissioned later that year and has been operating without failure ever since!! Smoke chemical consumption has fallen dramatically, serviceability has been 100% and the effect is as impressive as ever. Minimising issues relating to maintenance, and maximising reliability has given all of our visitors (some 200,000 per year) the benefit of seeing the smoke effect.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend these systems to other users who need reliable and cost-effective smoke!
