Concept ViCount – Large Scale Testing
It’s always interesting to see Concept smoke generators put to work, and Sustainable Lifestyles Ltd has shared an impressive example of large-scale smoke testing on its website, with a Vulcan / ViCount system appearing in the published footage.
According to Sustainable Lifestyles’ project account, the team tested an aircraft hangar in Spain in November 2023, filling approximately 200,000m³ with smoke to achieve around three metres’ visibility for ventilation testing. The company also carried out an airtightness test on the building.
At this scale, smoke persistence is just as important as output. Conventional water-based smoke can evaporate before it has fully filled a large test area. A powerful machine may produce an impressive plume of smoke, but maintaining a consistent concentration throughout a vast building is a different challenge.
This is where the ViCount / Vulcan excels. Its exceptionally persistent oil-based smoke has virtually no evaporation, allowing smoke to accumulate and spread throughout large spaces while remaining visible long enough to observe airflow and identify leakage paths. That persistence makes it particularly well suited to hangars, warehouses and other substantial enclosures.
Sustainable Lifestyles’ published example illustrates the scale of these projects and why choosing the right smoke technology matters.
