CONCEPT SMOKE OUT THE HATFIELD TUNNEL, LONDON

A major emergency exercise was conducted in the Hatfield Tunnel, London on the night of 1st October 2011, with a staged road traffic accident within the tunnel involving a tanker, lorry and minibus.

Operation Comet was designed to test the responses of the emergency services and the tunnel video smoke detection and ventilation systems, and Concept we once again contracted to supply the artificial smoke for the exercise  -  a "very impressive" simulation according to a senior member of the exercise team.

3 ViCount smoke systems produced smoke continuosly for the 2 hour duration of the exercise, filling the entire tunnel cross section.
